Quicken Error 1603 occurs when you’re trying to install Quicken into your computer.
Error 1603: A fatal error occurred during installation
Causes of Quicken Error 1603
1. The system account has no full access permission on the folder in which you’re trying to install Quicken
2. Drive that you’re trying to install Quicken is a substitute drive
3. The folder that you’re trying to install Quicken to is totally encrypted
We recommend you, before installing a new version of Quicken please uninstall the previous version. You can easily uninstall and reinstall Quicken from your computer.

2 Simple Steps to fix Quicken Error 1603: While Installing Quicken for Windows
STEP ONE: Uninstall old Quicken version
Windows 10
1. Press (Windows key + R) from the keyboard
2. A run box will pop out and type Control or Control Panel in it.
3. Click on Programs under control panel windows
4. Click on Programs and Features
5. Under the program, list look for Quicken and single click on it
6. Click Uninstall from the top menu bar
7. Click Yes to confirm the uninstallation
8. Follow on-screen instructions now
Windows 8
1. Press (Windows key + R) from the keyboard
2. A run box will pop out and type Control or Control Panel in it.
3. Click on Programs under control panel windows
4. Click on Programs and Features
5. Under the program, list look for Quicken and single click on it
6. Click Uninstall from the top menu bar
7. Click Yes to confirm the uninstallation
8. Follow on-screen instructions now
Windows 7
1. Click on Start icon
2. Type Run under Search program and files & press enter
OR
3. Press (Windows key + R) from the keyboard
4. A run box will pop out and type Control or Control Panel in it.
5. Click on Programs under control panel windows
6. Under the program list, look for Quicken and single click on it
7. Click Uninstall from the top menu bar
8. Click Yes to confirm and follow on-screen instructions.

STEP TWO: Grant full permission to system account
1. Open-File or Windows Explorer or press CTRL+E together
2. Make right click to the drive where you want to install Quicken (See an image below)

3. Then click on Properties and select the Security tab
4. Make sure you can see SYSTEM user account under Group or user names box
If the SYSTEM user account doesn’t appear in the box please follow the below steps
A) Click Edit and then Add…
B) Under the Enter the object names to select box type SYSTEM and click Check Names
C) Click OK
5. To change permission click Edit…
6. Now choose SYSTEM and verify that Permissions for SYSTEM is having Full Control. If not, make a check on Full Control

7. Click Apply and then OK.
8. Now come back to the Properties dialogue box and click on Advanced
9. Click on Change permissions
10. Under permission entries, select SYSTEM entry and click Edit
11. On the next screen, select Applies to dropdown and choose This folder, subfolders, and files

12. Click OK
13. Now wait for a couple of minutes and then install Quicken
