5 Simple Steps to take When QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale got Stuck

Step 1: Update QuickBooks Point of Sale to the Latest Release

  • Open QuickBooks Point of Sale
  • Go to the Help menu
  • Then click on Software Upadte > Check for Updates
  • If an update is avaiable click on it to launch

Step 2: Repair QuickBooks Point of Sale

  • Close QuickBooks Point of Sale
  • Press Windows+R keys together to open the Run command
  • Then type Control and click OK
  • Under Conrol Panel, click on Progarms > Programs and Features
  • Select QuickBooks Point of Sale version from the program list
  • Then make a right-click and choose Repair

Step 4: Create a backup and restore the different backup file

Create a backup in QuickBooks Point of Sale

  • Open QuickBooks Point of Sale
  • Go to File > Backup Data
  • To Backup the company data, specify the location
  • Choose Backup to default location to create a backup in a default folder

  • Choose Back up to alternate location to create a backup on a network/thumb drive
  • Then click Back Up
  • Once the backup is completed, click on Finish

Restore the backup file in QB POS

  • Go to File > Company Operations
  • Choose Restore from backup and click Next
  • You need to specify the location to restore the backup from
  • Choose Backup to default location to restore the backup from the default folder location*
    OR
  • Choose Backup to alternate backup file and click Browse to restore it from the network/thumb drive
  • Then click Next
  • Once the backup is restored, click on Close

*Default folder location to create a QuickBook Point of Sale backup on your computer drive is C:\Users\Public\Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks Point of Sale 20XX\Data\TEST\Backup

Step 5: Uninstall and Reinstall QuickBooks Point of Sale

Important – Before you uninstall QuickBooks Point of Sale, ensure that you’re ready with the following:
1. You’re handy with Product and License Number
2. You’re logged in as an Admin
3. You’ve created a backup of your Company File

Uninstall QuickBooks Point of Sale

  • Close QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale
  • Press Windows+R keys together to open the Run Command
  • Type Control and click OK to open the Control Panel
  • Click on Programs > Programs and Features
  • Select the QuickBooks Point of Sale among the list and then make a right click on it
  • Click Uninstall
  • Now follow the on screen instructions to Uninstall the Point of Sale

Reinstall QuickBooks Point of Sale

Before you reinstall QuickBooks Point of Sale, it’s suggested to reboot your computer. Once the reboot is complete:

  • Go to QuickBooks Download & Install Page
  • Choose Not Sure and click Next
  • On the next window, select your Country, Product, Product Edition, and Version
  • Then click Search
  • Now click Download
  • Once the download the is completed, click on the setup to launch
  • If asks, click on Yes to allow user permissions
  • Then click on Next to install wizard on your computer
  • Then accept the Terms and Conditions
  • Now enter the License and Product Number
  • Then click Next
  • Choose the installtion type
    * Only this computer
    * Two or more computers
  • Click Next and Install
  • Once the installtion is complete, click on Finish

After following all the above steps you’ll no longer face an error ‘Sorry, QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale got stuck for a second and didn’t respond to your request. Please try again.’ but in case the same problem still exists, you can speak with our experts.
