3 Simple Steps to Firewall Configuration for QuickBooks Point of Sale
Step 1: Assign Windows Administrator Right
- Make a right-click on the Start Button
- Choose Settings
- Select Accounts
- On the left panel, click Family & Other users
- Select the owner’s name and click Change account type
- Under Account type, choose Administrator
- Click OK
Step 2: Assign a New Rule(Inbound or Outbound Rule)
Note: We suggest you contact your IT Tech person to add a new rule.
- Press the Windows+R keys to open the Run command
- Type Control and click OK to open the Control Panel
- Click System and Security > Windows Defender Firewall
- On the left panel, click Advanced Settings
- Click Inbound Rules
- Click New Rule…
- Select Port and click Next
- Enter the Specific Local Port Number
- Click Next and select Allow the connection
- Click Next and Finish

Step 3: Add or Exclude files from Third-Party security programs
We explain the steps below using Microsoft’s built-in antivirus software called “Microsoft Defender Antivirus”. You can contact your antivirus software provider to add or exclude the files.
- Make a right-click on the Start Button
- Choose Settings
- Go to Update & Security > Windows Security
- Select Virus & threat protection
- Click Manage Settings
- Under Exclusion, click Add or Remove exclusions
- Click Yes, if asks to provide user account control permission
- Click + Add an exclusion and choose the type of item such as File, Folder, etc. to exclude from Microsoft Defender Antivirus to scan.
